Finding The Best CD Rates
All our investments nowadays go down but if you notice the price of gas in your area it goes up so fast. I can't believe this is happening in today's economy. Even finding the best CD rates is challenging this days. I hope our economy will get better soon.

Rebuilding Our Retaining Wall
I just received an estimate from the landscaper I talked to a week ago about our plan to rebuild our existing stone wall. It is our priority this summer to do something about it. Because of too much snow last winter, the wall started to collapse. Poor drainage contributes to the problems of frost heaving. This affects the foundation that is not secure in the ground below the frost level. We don't want to always have this problem every year but I was surprised with the estimate since we do have the materials needed. We are expecting the labor would be less. But anyway, we still have to wait for some quotations on the mail so we can have a good comparison and decide what to do from there.
When talking to the landscaper he told me that he had a problem finding our address because the house number is on the front of our mailbox , which is partly hidden. He then suggested to install an address plaques where the big rock is located so that the number would be obvious when you are on the road. That is a good suggestion though, but it is not our priority right now.
I learned a lot while talking to him and I am considering some of his suggestions. That lead me to look online and check what to get if we decide to replace our mailbox. I can't believe a vast selections I found and smitten with those gorgeous looking whitehall mailboxes available. I have now a good idea where to find something I need for our home and garden accents.

My Little Girl And The Dandelion Puff Balls
Dandelion could be a pesky weed for some but it's a joy for my little girl. After school my daughter loves to stop by in our yard to look for some puff balls. She loves to make a wish before blowing each one as hard as she can. I do enjoy watching her but knowing what
she wishes for breaks my heart. I make sure when I mow the lawn that those puff balls are not disturbed for my daughter to play with when she comes home. I wasn't sure if after this few days of rain there will still be dandelions in our yard.
Dandelion...
First I make a wish, then I blow real hard,
And the little dandelions blow all over the yard,
And I wait and I hope for my wish to come true.
Guess there's only so much a dandelion can do.
Some people think that dandelions are a pest,
But I think that dandelions are the best.
Dandelions, don't you know, are really cool,
And dandelion haters should go back to school.

What Do You Think They Were Doing?
I wasn't sure if this is their way of entertaining tourists or they were just hanging around there. It's obvious this wasn't Air Force One that was on the news a few weeks ago, they were the NYPD roaming around and waving the tourists on top of the Rockefeller Center. What are they doing? I don't know.
This happened when we visited New York City, a few days before the Air Force One incident that was in the news. The NYPD chopper circled the Rockefeller Center observation deck a few times, then flew off to buzz the Empire State Building.

Charter's Phatband Ultra60
In an age where almost everybody is connected through digital technology, we are always looking for some advancement. As an internet user the speed of the internet is crucial to whatever things I do online. Even for people who use the internet for entertainment, a fast internet connection is a great advantage. Charter’s Ultra60 Mbps service is part of the company’s strategy to provide customers with the fastest Internet speed available at a time when it is critical to have a high-speed connection to multimedia sites. With the fast internet connection we can do multitasking as most of us really needs. Charter's “Phatband” Ultra60 internet is one of the fastest internet speeds in the US. This is going to be awesome for the hardcore gamers and those who download videos. The downloads will happen in a flash, and the gamers will see almost no lag. My nephew will be very happy with it since he loves to play World of Warcraft. You can learn more about the Charter Phatband on their Ultra60 Information Page. Right now, this service is currently available only in St. Louis, but Charter is planning to have this and similar products available in many other cities in the US. You can tweet them on Charter’s Twitter Feed. This new innovation will make an internet users happy. Fast internet connection better than DSL is what we need and Charter's Phatband is the answer.

Frances Williams ...
is a large-leafed hosta with wide yellow margins that surround the blue-green centers, making it very striking. This stunning beauty blooms from July to August. and has been at the top of the American Hosta Society's popularity poll for many years. This is a low care perennial.
The plant is named after the hobby breeder who developed it, Frances Williams, who has 17 hostas to her credit.
The parent
This leaf measures 15 inches already and it still getting bigger.
The baby (started as a seed) She is now 2 years old. I am not sure if the leaves will still change color. But her mom definitely has a mixed of colors.

A Guide To A Healthy Living
If you are in a medical field you probably are familiar with the Scrubs magazine. But Scrubs is not just a clinical nursing site. This very interesting magazine talks about everything. From health, beauty, fashion, love, money, you name it, they have an article about it. Plus you will also get a chance to have an inside look at a nurse's lifestyle. A fun, warm, timely yet original, speaks to the “stages of a nursing career” (such as student nurse, new nurse, seasoned/mentor). I like reading their inspirational stories , why they chose to be nurses. Becoming a nurse is a vocation. They really possess a caring personality . They are an inspiration and deserves to be appreciated. I truly enjoy reading this uplifting magazine. This can be one of your best guide for everyday living.
This cool online magazine has a portion where you can nominate someone for a Scrubby Award. They also have a nursing poll where readers can participate to vote. Scrubsmag.com is a site to go if you are looking for health tips, guides, and interesting articles to read. They are constantly updating their site to better serve their readers.

Tomorrow Is A New Day!
It was beautiful day today, that made my day busy. I completely forgot my volunteer work in school because of the many errands I did today. Being a stay at home mom can sometimes be very stressful and tiring. Anyway, tomorrow is a new day, and I hope it will be a relaxing day for me. Good night everyone!

What An Experience!
One time, after I was done with my volunteer work in my daughter's school, I went straight to the store and did some shopping. It was already 2:00 PM when I realized I haven't eaten my lunch, so I decided to just get something from the Chinese restaurant. I was in a hurry because at 2:45PM I have to be in school again to pick her up. I was so occupied that time, I didn't realized that I left my keys inside the car. I called my husband and informed him of it. He then called the fire department and in 15 minutes they were there ready to help.I picked up my daughter on time. Kudos to the Fitchburg firefighters for being so quick to respond. It's good to know that there is 5.11 Tactical series that is available to enhance the safety, accuracy, speed and performance of law enforcement and even firefighting professionals.

Simply Irresistible Is One Year Old!
I was watering the plants when I noticed that our lady slippers are in bloom. This reminds me of one thing, Simply Irresistible is already a year old. The beautiful lady slipper was my first entry one year ago. I can't believe it is already a year old. I became inactive after few months of blogging though. My good friend Mira encouraged me to go on. Thanks Mira, she was right, now I'm loving it. I gained a lot of friends and still adding more. I also want to thank Carlota for my beautiful layout. To all my friends and my frequent visitors, thank you.

In a few more weeks kids will be out from school. You can kick back and enjoy life once again without having to worry of getting up early in the morning and prepare your kid's lunch box. Now is the best time to plan the most awaited vacation.
For those who are traveling, it is better to research ahead of time on the area you are traveling. Have an itinerary of places or attractions that will be of interest to you. Would you like to have a free vacation? Kissimmee is giving away three weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two; and two week-long vacations for four. Drawings will be held on or around 4/1/09, 5/1/09 and 6/1/09. I signed up already hoping to win a free vacation. I hope you do the same. I dreamed of going to Florida and this is a good chance for my family to see the beauty of Kissimmee, a town famous for their friendly residents. This is a place where you can have fun and enjoy the world famous theme parks, shopping in an old style downtown, and even experience the beauty of nature. We would like to spend some time cooling off at one of their awesome water parks. We love nature, and our vacation will never be complete without exploring an amazing outdoor adventure on an airboat ride across the tranquil and welcoming Lake Toho. This water adventure will surely be an exciting part of our vacation. I heard a lot of exciting experiences about the thrill of roaring and gliding on an airboat and we want to experience it ourselves. Kissimmee offers plenty of unforgettable “real Florida” adventures to make our family vacation getaway a memorable one.

Last Night's Frost warning
Last night, there was a frost warning in some part of New England including the area where I live. The weather was so good for the past couple of weeks so I planted some tomatoes and even eggplant in our small garden. I also had some flowering annuals that I planted. So last night when the frost warning was announced I covered some of my plants to protect from frost. I learned my lesson, next year I won't plant sensitive plants until after Memorial Day.

Ethical Hacking
Do you love to use the computer for the simple joy of using the computer? Seeing if you can actually make it do something? You know, writing a program to do something for the same reason people climb Mount Everest, “because it's there”. This is hacking. Not the criminal activity of trojans and spamming that is often called hacking these days (I call it cracking) but computing for the sake of doing so. Hacking is often a gray area, often unauthorized access of a system without intending harm. How would you like to be paid to do so? Well, one of the best ways to stop the 'bad' hacking is to figure out how the crackers do their dirty deeds by “attacking” a system and then plugging the holes so the real bad guys can't do it. Who would do something like that? How about you! Would you like to be a Certified Ethical Hacker? There are “boot camp” style courses where you can learn “Ethical Hacking”, where you find the holes that need plugging. IT Security, disaster recovery, and secure coding where you can learn how to prevent the bad guys from damaging or even taking over your systems. The EC-Council offers online classes and a “Hacker Halted” security conference in Miami September 20-24, 2009.

Mellow Yellow - Dutch Shoes
Would you like to fly on a dutch shoe? This is one of the many rides at Story Land, a place where the fantasy lives. Kids love this fairytale attraction located in Glen, New Hampshire. We are planning to visit this place again in June since our last visit was when my little girl was only 3. I am pretty sure that this time she would appreciate it more.

Direct TV's Loyal Subscriber
We have been a subscriber of directtv for over ten years now. Yes 10 years, that is how loyal we are to this company. We are pretty happy with their service. We called them a couple of months ago to renew our contract for another year. Their customer service is excellent. The last time we talk to them, they gave us free HD receiver and 1 year free upgrade. How cool is that? The biggest advantage of directtv are the sports packages they have, such as the exclusive programming with NASCAR that the sports enthusiasts are looking for. They are also the leading provider of HD programming.
Our Day Trip Experience
We are fond of day trips. My husband loves to drive and bring us in some places where we can explore new sights. One time we were driving in a back roads in a hot summer day, I turned on the air conditioner and there was a strong vibration coming from the air conditioning compressor. He didn't have any clue what was wrong. He checked the belt tensioner to find out if the belt was loose but he said it was ok. He thought that maybe the A/C compressor could be coming apart internally. We didn't have any option but to continue driving in a hot summer day without the A/C. My little girl suggested that it is time for daddy to buy a new car.

Why Men Cheat?
I love to watch Oprah show and a few months back one of the topic was about “why men cheat.”It was shocking to hear that 1 out of 3 men cheats. 92% of men say they don't cheat for the sex.
Here are some signs that a man is cheating:
* Spending more time away from home
* A reduction in sex with his wife
* Avoiding contact (e-mails & phone calls) with his wife
* Criticizing his wife more
Reasons why Men cheat:
Emotional disconnection and lack of thoughtful gestures from their wives as the main reason why they cheated. Because of the lack of attention at home, they sought out someone who would give them attention and make them feel good.
A man in the audience commented that he felt like he had become a piece of furniture in his home, Gary Neuman addressed that the bottom line with men cheating is truly not about sex, but about how the other woman makes the man feel. Gary commented that men love to win and during his research men would say that they gave up in their marriage because they felt like they just couldn't win.

A Kid - Friendly Vacation
Do you think taking a vacation without the kids can be done? Some did it. They said, they enjoyed and felt recharged after spending time with their spouse. But after I gave birth to my little girl, it seemed impossible for us to just spend some time together. If I can, I would love to spend a few days in Florida. I always want to spend some time in the beach, stroll around town and do some shopping in a Prime outlets, where bargains are plenty. Spending vacation with just the two of us is just a dream. Whenever we go on vacation we want to be with our little girl and enjoy her company. Anyway, in Kissimmee, we can still combine the fun, rides shopping and exploring the beautiful sceneries this place has to offer.
The best time to go on vacation in Kissimme really depends on weather you are traveling with school kids or not. Although the parks are packed when the school is out but it is the best time for our family to fulfill our dream getaway. Though money is tight, you can still get away because Kissimmee is giving away three weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two; and two week-long vacations for four. Our Playful Little Feline
Peekaboo...
We love our cat. Actually Lara is the fourth cat in our household. But this little feline is so different. She really exhibits a playful behavior of a cat. She doesn't lose energy to run around the house, going up and down the stairs as fast as she can, and she even ruin the bottom lining of our chair and sneaked inside. She is such funny little cat. Sometimes I want to scream but my little girl always reminds me this, " Mom she is just a playful cat." My DH suggested to get another one so they will play each other and diminish her playful behavior. I'm not sure about that. But blogging helps me a little bit, instead of screaming I usually grab my camera and just take a picture of her while doing it.

Online Dating
Online dating is pretty common now and people seem to take it more seriously than a few years ago. It is a convenient way to get to know a person whom you might interested with. If you are planning to join an online black bbw dating service to find your love or a partner, it is important that you are aware of its advantages and disadvantages. Good luck!
Webhosting - Choosing The Right One
It took me a while to convince my husband to change our internet provider. I wanted to save money with the new package but my husband was already satisfied with our old service and with his webhosting provider. I promised him that I will search for a reliable webhosting service. I found out that choosing the right one could be difficult to find. The sheer number of sites can be overwhelming. It's easy to get locked into a long term contract with a bad provider if you aren't careful. There is a site where you can review the different webhosting providers, It is an easy to use site where you can easily review web hosting providers for what's important to you. Perhaps you are on a budget. Perhaps you need to host a large amount of data or need large bandwidth, or need PHP support. Maybe you need good tools to help you create a website. You can find sites which offer free domains, or others will assist with advertising such as Google AdSense or Yahoo Marketing, or sites which are better if you need multiple domains. You can even find "green" hosting, providers which are solar or wind powered!
They have a blog which contains tips and what to look for in a hosting company, explanation of security issues and essentially everything you need to know to find a provider to get your site up and running.

We brought our little girl to Jollibee in New York when she found out that it is already opened. I showed her the jollibee commercial and she became a fan since then. Actually she didn't care about the food but she was so eager to see the mascot. Mommy was the one who wanted the taste of spaghetti.

Family Summer Vacation
Everybody with children in school knows how important summer vacation is for spending quality time together. We always want to have a perfect vacation to bond with our kids, explore new places, have some fun and even relax. Planning ahead of time is the key since we are going to travel with our little girl. I figured it is about time to spend our summer vacation in Kissimmee, Florida and visit the world famous family attractions like SeaWorld, Disney World and Universal Studios. I know my little girl will have a blast once she finds out about our plan. My husband wouldn't want to be left out so I suggested the swamp tour and an airboat ride across lake Taho. I've heard that at the Land at Epcot, the ride through the greenhouse is fascinating so we also included it in our things to do list. We want it to be a memorable vacation for the whole family. I am pretty sure my little girl will be recalling vacation memories for years to come. The nicest thing is that Kissimmee is now giving away three weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two ; and two week-long vacations for four . Drawings will be held on or around 4/1/09, 5/1/09 and 6/1/09. For those of you who wants to have a free vacation try signing up and have a chance to experience your dream vacation.
Prepositions Trip Me Up Sometimes
English is my second language, and prepositions (verb/preposition combinations) are very confusing in English, and "UP" is pretty much the worst. Prepositions trip me up sometimes.
It's amazing how we ever learn our English language.
Listen "up"...what's in a word? Ever stop to think about UP?
There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meaning than any other two-letter word, and that is "UP."
It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we waken in the morning, why do we wake UP?
At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?
We call UP our friends And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car.
At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.
To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special.
And this UP is confusing:
A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.
We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.
We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!
To be knowledgeable of the proper uses of UP, look UP the word in the dictionary. In a desk size dictionary, takes UP almost 1/4th the page and definitions add UP to about thirty.
If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more.
When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.
When it rains, it wets UP the earth. When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP.
One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so.............
I'll shut UP.....!

Breakthroughs In Stem Cell Research
There has been an interesting medical discovery recently. It’s been long known that umbilical cord blood is a good source of stem cells which have been proven to treat 70 different diseases, such as leukemia, neuroblastoma, lymphoma, and sickle cell anemia. However, an obvious problem with umbilical cord blood stem cells is the supply is quite limited. They can only be collected at birth, and the amount collected is typically only enough to treat a child. I didn't even get a chance to save my baby's umbilical cord blood due to lack of information.
A company called CryoCell has announced in a CryoCell Press Release that adding stem cells from menstrual blood to cord blood greatly enhances the yield of cord blood stem cells and progenitor cells (which grow into blood cells). This is great news in that it potentially greatly expands the limited source of cord blood stem cells in a non-controversial method.
This is not their first such discovery. CryoCell has also demonstrated that menstrual stem cells have the capability to differentiate into other important cells, such as bone, cartilage, fat, nerve and cardiogenic cells, which can potentially be transplanted back into the donor or her close relative. CryoCell now offers a service called Celle to collect and preserve the stem cells from members of the general public.

Build A garden and Your Body At The Same Time
We already started planting some vegetables in our garden. My DH and I did some planting together. I really enjoyed working with him. Planting and maintaining a garden can be a physical workout. There is soil to till, holes to dig some watering and weed to pull. Working in the garden strengthens muscles and may also helps the release of endorphins, substances in the body that work to reduce pain and increase feelings of well being. Whatever size garden you decide to grow you'll discover that it's a great way to get in that daily work out, while also spending time with your family.

Kissimmee, The Heart Of Florida
What would your dream getaway be like? I love shopping in an old style downtown. (Not the “mall”, where you see one, you’ve seen them all) I’d like to experience nature. How wild animals truly live. My favorite bird is the famous symbol of the US, the bald eagle. In addition, I’ve been on a couple of swamp tours and I love them! Alligators, birds, turtles as nature meant them to be. I love history as well. How did people on the farm live a hundred years ago? How about major league baseball or golf? I'd love to meet Tiger Woods some day. How about checking the local cruise night to see the classic cars, or a visit to an art museum? What about spotting famous celebrities out and about? Wouldn’t it be great if a place had all of this? Well I’ll let you in on a secret. There is such a place – Kissimmee, Florida! It has a historic downtown for shopping, many lakes and swamps with all their wildlife (including the largest nesting population of bald eagles in the lower 48 states),and beautiful theme parks.
This time, Kissimmee is giving away three weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two; and two week-long vacations for four (4). Drawings will be held on or around 4/1/09, 5/1/09 and 6/1/09. You can sign up now and get a chance to win one these give aways.

Mellow Yellow
This beautiful flower was the first one to bloom in my small garden. It was dormant for years until my husband dug out the bulb last year and planted it in a different section of my garden. She seemed so happy with her new location.

Our Perfect Kissimmee Getaway
Every year my husband reminds me about going to Florida to bring our little girl to Disney World. I keep on postponing it because I want my daughter to remember all the good things in this trip. She will turn six this summer and I think this is the best time for her to experience all the exciting activities that this place has to offer. I never heard of Kissimmee before, until I became more interested and start looking for the best place in Florida where we can spend our vacation. It seems that this place is synonymous with fun. There is so much for a kid to do. Disney World is just minutes away, of course. There are water parks, SeaWorld, where she can explore aquatic wonders and get soak by the smart and amazing Shamu splash, the lakes and swamps for tours of the local wildlife such as alligators. I am pretty sure that this time what she will experience here will always be close to her heart. I need to sign up now since Kissimmee is giving away three weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two; and two week-long vacations for four. Drawings will be held on or around 4/1/09, 5/1/09 and 6/1/09.

Born to Play
When my daughter was still a baby, we gave her lots of educational baby toys. Just like other parents, we gave her educational toys so she can learn the colors, shapes and the alphabet early in life. Now that she is six, she chooses the toy she wants. We just want to make sure that it is still educational and fun at the same time. She is into older toys now. She loves to play pretend.
I enjoy watching her while playing with her favorite Sleeping Beauty's Princess room set. She loves this set to re-create Princess Aurora's room from the Disney film Sleeping Beauty in lots of imaginative ways. This set has 51-piece bedroom suite. There are lots of special parts to recreate a favorite scene and is compatible with all mini blocks. This is a wonderful way to develop contruction skills and a great way to encourage roleplay. I allow her to explore and develop a creative imagination. Her daddy gave it to her last Christmas and from then on this becomes her favorite. Her birthday is coming up soon , so I started to look on line for the toy that she might like. I was lucky to find the MEGA Brands site where I can shop for something for her birthday. It would be easier for me to just show her the selections and let her choose what she wants. I like the idea of selecting toys by age, that way I can easily find the product I like.

Humpty Dumpty Sat On A Wall

Every Paw Counts
Just like most Americans, I grew up with dogs in our household. I learned how animals need care and attention just like us. A pet is an important member in our household. I love seeing my little girl hugging Lara (our cat) every time she comes home from school. She can't be away from home for a long time because she misses our pet. Lara becomes her little sister since she is our only child. Having a pet around teaches our little girl compassion and responsibility. Studies show that children who own pets have more empathy and nurturing ability, and as they grow to adulthood, essential skills to develop meaningful relationships.
It is good to know know that there are some sites like the Home Again Web Site who has program to supports the American Humane Association's Be Kind To Animals Week May 3-9 by donating a portion of the proceeds for every companion animal registered to the program during this time frame. For every pet registered, HomeAgain will make the donation through bringpetshome.com -a fundraising Web site specifically created to help shelter animals. Tomorrow, Saturday we will be going to the park nearby to participate in a Dog Walk to benefit Canines for disabled kids. My little girl will surely love this event.

Strawberries Are Superstars!
Did you know that there are about 200 seeds on the outside of each strawberry?
Last year we didn't have the taste of strawberries in our garden. Chipmunks had its share. But do you know that strawberry is a superstar when it comes to anti-oxidant power. Strawberries are packed with flavonoids called quercetin and kaempferol. Research shows that these two flavonoids help keep "bad" (LDL) cholesterol from oxidizing and damaging artery walls. Strawberries also contain ellargic acids which are also found in some other fruits. Ellargic acid acts as a scavenger to bind cancer-causing chemicals, making them inactive.
One serving (about 8 medium strawberries) provides:
*More vitamin C than an orange or more than 140 % of the RDA for vitamin C.
*Three grams of fiber, making it a good source of carbohydrates.
*As much potassium as a small banana.
*Anti- oxidants and many essential minerals including calcium and iron.

I didn't get a chance to watch my favorite show this afternoon because I was so busy doing the laundry. How I wish we had a television close to the laundry room so I can still watch my favorite show while folding our clothes. Oh well, I don't think it will happen but who knows, my husband might read this post and surprise me with a new television on Mother's Day. Since Charter is creating a new bundle offer it would also be a great time to discuss it with my husband. This way we can also save with home entertainment. You can custom build the service bundle you want by using their easy to use website. They also have a Charter's Free Gift Card Sweepstakes for the whole month of May.

Mellow Yellow - Swing
During the day our yard is so quiet. No sounds of a little girl swinging in a swing set. But once she gets home from school her first stop would be the kitchen and have some snack then play with mommy in the yard , climb on the monkey bar, slides, and swinging nonstop.
