The Fresh Tastes Of Nature

Have you ever picked fresh vegetables and fruits in your garden? Remember how fresh, juicy and delicious they tasted? Growing vegetables and fruits teaches children that plants, like people, need adequate food and water to grow and stay healthy. Through gardens, children also learn about new foods and are willing to taste foods that they grow. Easy food for kids to grow include tomatoes, peppers, green beans, zucchini and many others. You don't need acres of land to garden; many of the plants grow well in containers.

Our Spring Vacation

Last week, we had a surprised vacation in New York City. DH didn't tell me that he took a week off from work during our little girl's spring break and booked our two nights stay in nearby hotel in NYC. Usually we talk about it and I do all the preparations but this time he did it himself to surprise us. Our first stopped was the Bronx Zoo- America's largest metropolitan zoo and home to thousands of animals from all corners of the globe. We spent our second day in Manhattan and our last day was a visit to the Statue of Liberty which was the favorite of my little girl. We really enjoyed our 3 days vacation.

Swine Flu Outbreak

The news about Swine Flu is all over the globe. Everybody is talking about it. I heard the news this morning that Arizona, Massachusetts, Michigan and Nevada joined the list of states with the new cases, Texas said its total has now climbed to 16 cases, New York has 51, and California has 14. This is pretty scary. But what exactly is swine flu? It has been identified as a type A influenza that has taken pieces of influenza viruses from pigs, birds, and humans and combined them into a new virus. These sorts of viruses often evolve into a pandemic. It has the potential to spread widely because humans haven't been exposed to it before and they haven't developed any resistance. But at this point we don't know if this particular virus will spread widely and if it does we don't know how severe it will be. We have to do our utmost precaution on this matter. Do some preventive measures like washing hands, covering the mouth when coughing or sneezing and staying away from the crowded places if possible. Having a preparedness kits at home such as swine flu kits is a good idea so we can better protect ourselves and our family.

Wicked Profits In Today's Market

Nobody needs to tell you that the stock market has been rather frightening lately. You have probably heard the jokes, such as “I no longer have a 401K, it is now a 201K” But did you know that the savvy investor often makes more money during bear markets than in bull markets? But who has such smarts? While investing is always going to be a risky activity, one company that has done rather well is an option advisory service called Wicked Profits.
They have a goal of making 4% profit per month, consistent returns and an 80% win ratio. Since they started in 2000, they've exceeded that goal, with an average monthly return of 5.0% and a win ratio of 82%, even in this market. Of course, “Past performance does not guarantee future performance”.
This service is targeted for the relatively small investor, with a minimum brokerage account of $10,000 , however they suggest having an account of $15,000. They send you recommendations in the evening, when the markets are closed so it's ideal for the working person who can't stare at the stock ticker all day. You can review their recommendation and decide what to do, or you can select their auto trade feature, where their recommendation will be automatically placed in your trading account by your broker. They give exact step by step entry and exit recommendations for each trade so you will know exactly what to do. It doesn't take a lot of your time, too. This is a good way to get started in options trading. You just need to have a cash or margin account with your broker, with approval to trade options. If this sounds interesting to you, why not check them out at http://www.wickedprofits.com and see if this service is right for you.

Relaxing In My Garden

I started a small garden few years ago. I planted some bulbs that didn't need much care but produces a lot of flowers. The spark was ignited, from then on I've been digging and adding more plants. I do gardening activities when the weather gets a little warmer, in our area sometime in April.
Dressing up my garden is fun and draw attention to a specific area. This time I am planning to add a solar powered fountain bird bath so I can enjoy the sound of water flowing down the fountain and I'm sure birds will love it too. All I need is fill it with water and enjoy the soothing atmosphere while relaxing on my Peguera Bench. Gardening makes me busy all summer long. Working in my garden strengthen my muscles and is also a great way to get in that daily work out, while also spending time with my family. Since we added a deck close to the garden I can now entertain friends outdoor, with citronella candles and a dab of sunblock we are now ready for an outdoor party.

Home Sweet Home

No matter where the economy stands, there is always something to upgrade, remodel or repair inside the house. It is a never ending projects for the homeowners. If you are thinking a way to increase the value of your home, adding a deck or doing a mid- to high siding replacement is the least expensive, but most lucrative. Baltimore Remodeling contractors will work with you to build your home to meet your dreams and your family needs. They specialize in building custom or modular homes, build additions and garages and do interior and exterior remodeling. They also build decks, patios, carports and fences. Just keep in mind that in hiring a contractor you have to :

Look for experience – you'll want to select a contractor with direct experience in the type of project you have in mind. Ask for references.
Talk to at least 2 contractors – If possible get a price bids from at least 2 contractors and search for a licensed home improvement contractor.
Check for customer complaints.
Don't be offended if the contractor protects his business by inquiring about your credit worthiness and ability to pay.
Always put changes in writing. If a contractor promises something, ask to have it in writing. Or write up the promised item yourself and ask the builder to initial your writing.
Read the fine print.

It is better to establish a good working relationship with your contractor. Be honest with them about your expectations. And remember, be patient and keep your mind on the end result. Good luck!

Mellow Yellow - Toy Tunnel

MellowYellowBadge

This toy tunnel was once a great toy for my little girl. When baby was away our cat was there to rest or play. Our cat Schmedley taking his rest. This photo was taken 5 years ago. We really miss our cat. He passed away in 2007. He has been with us for 18 years giving us joy and company.

Make Your Home Live Up To Your Dream

Summertime is just around the corner and many of us are thinking of a painting project. A fresh coat of paint can make freshen the exterior of a home and enliven the interior rooms if you want to maintain the beauty of your house. Most of the time homeowners do it themselves but there are some large or higher homes that needs a help of a professional painter. Painting is the most affordable and quickest options when it comes to decorating and improving your home and its resale value. I tried painting our rooms upstairs but I found out that painting itself is the easiest part. The preparation methods could be time consuming and not fun at all. If you ask me if I'm going to do it again? Maybe not. I better hire a painter to do it again for me the next time. When hiring a professional painter it is good to ask some referrals from family and friends. It is better to know the quality of work of the person you are hiring. Request proof of current state license and insurance policy. In Florida, liability insurance is a must to protect you from any possible damage. Fort Lauderdale Painting offers an amazing selections of paints and services and provides guarantee if there should be any chipping, peeling or fading within a year or two. Not too many contractors give you that guarantee.

What I Want Is A Beautiful Lawn

Spring is here, It's time for our lawn to be restored. We are having problem in our lawn for couple of years now. It is in bad shape, but we aren't ready to go with a lawn service. The grass is weak and there are weeds. Last year we had it fertilized but it didn't give us a good result. This time we went to our local farm supply store to have the soil checked so we can use the right fertilizer. It really needs a very good fertilizer, but we want to avoid chemicals that can hurt our little girl. Most lawn care treatments contain harsh chemicals to kill the weeds, and we want to avoid that. Do you want your small child to play in chemicals? We sure don't. We are going to try ringer lawn fertilizer to restore our lawn to its former lush state. This is a balanced slow release formula which is necessary since we don't want to make things worse by shocking the grass. It is organic, without chemicals, and allows you to keep your lawn and garden organic. The balanced formula allows the grass to eliminate weeds the natural way – by choking out weed pests. The slow release formula has the right balance of nitrogen, phosphate and potassium for a beautiful lawn from several totally natural sources. I can't wait to see our lawn in good shape again.

The Beauty Of A Spring

This magnolia tree is not from our garden but I would love to have one of this kind. I took this picture when walking at the park so I can show it to our local nursery if I can get the same kind. The greatest bloom of this lovely tree is in the early spring.Oh, how I love spring... the beautiful flowers begin to bloom and the green world begins to return after its winter slumber.

Walk and BeeWell

Walking is a part of my daily routine. We are lucky enough to have a park close to where we live. It is a different feeling every time I go out and walk for an hour. Walking at the park where greeneries around makes me feel a whole lot better. I found out that exercising in a green environment puts you in a better frame of mind than working out in a gym. But what about walking or running for a cause, that would be an added bonus. Getting fit and help others benefit by it could be a wonderful experience. Thanks to BeeWell Miles program because they will donate 15 cents for every mile you log to Breast Cancer Network of Strength whose mission is to provide immediate emotional relief to anyone affected by breast cancer. They also have an insightful weekly blog posts that would make easier for us to get active. You will also find useful tools to track your activity and nutrition, delicious and simple recipes and meet other health- minded participants waiting to share their tips, stories and recipes. I don't follow any type of diet but I always make sure that I eat moderately. I try to avoid sweets and salty foods in our pantry so I will not be tempted to nibble it while I'm home. We usually don't have sweet desserts at home but reserve that special indulgences when dining in a restaurant. Have fun walking!

Bug Carousel

How would you like to be riding on the back of an insect as small as a your thumb? My littlegirl had so much fun in a bug carousel during our visit to the zoo in Bronx, New York. Actually that was the highlight of her trip when she found out that there is bug carousel that she can ride on aside from the interesting animals in the rainforest. I will write more about our Bronx zoo visit on my next posts.

Waiting For A Sunny Day

It's been raining for 3 days in a row now. I hope sunny day comes before the spring break ends. My little girl can't wait to play in this play ground again. At least I got an opportunity to look for the Glass Tile my hubby needs for his project.

Daily Deals

My hubby's biggest weakness is electronics. He loves to go on line and search for electronics that interest him. He loves to build computers himself so most of the time I received packages that he usually bought on line. He even introduced me to a very interesting site that he found while looking at the item he wanted to buy for a long time. The site has Daily Deals, yes, they have good deals everyday. This is not just electronics but there are other items too. They offer one item at a great price. They have a steal of the day that they post everyday.
Daily Deals featured item is a Webcam Plus USB Web PC Video Camera. This is a great product if you want to add video in your internet communications. The camera offers clear still and live video images in a small, fun package that is easy to set up and use. It's great for families to stay in touch with friends and relatives, by adding video to IM, sharing photos and more. Try visiting their site and have a chance to steal the deal of the day. You might get lucky to find the item you are looking for in a very good price.

A Wet And Chilly Tuesday

It was wet and chilly the whole day today but I promised my little girl to bring her out and play since it is her spring break. We decided to go to the play area inside the mall which is 30 minutes away from us. Just across the play area is a shoe store so I ask my husband if he can watch her while I go shopping. I was looking for the Converse Shoes and shoes for her but I can't find the one I like. I bought her the Crocs Shoes last year and she said that it is already small. Shoes are one thing that I don't buy in advance since kids grow so fast. After she was done playing we ended up going to Lowe's to buy some gardening stuff and some other things that my husband need in his project. When we got home I searched on line because I really need to buy shoes for her so she can use it when she goes back to school. While searching on line I found the site that has a great selections of Kids Shoes with beautiful styles and different colors that kids would love. She chose the pink one as always, since it is her favorite color. It's good because they offer a free shipping on most of the items and there is no sales tax so I can save few bucks from there.

Mellow Yellow

MellowYellowBadge
This daylily is one of my favorites in our garden. Having a very bright color and big flower makes the garden more lively when it blooms. I wish to see more of this beauty this year. ID please for my co-bloggers who know its name.

Do Plants Sleep?

In the morning...

At night...

It is so interesting, I was in the kitchen washing dishes when I noticed our seedlings folded up all their leaves. Are they sleeping? Yes, plants do sleep at night. They can not make food, so they shut down by closing their stomata.
Let me talk a little bit of science here:
Green plants are the only plants that produce oxygen and make food, which is called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis means "putting together with light." This takes place in sunlight. From sunlight, green plants combine carbon dioxide and water to make sugar and oxygen. Green plants use sugar to make starch, fats, and proteins. there are tiny pores called stomata. Oxygen and carbon dioxide enter and leave through the stomata.

Our Dream Getaway

Picture_2
If there is one place I dreamed of going, It is the beautiful Maui in Hawaii. I heard a lot of wonderful things about this Island. The world's best beaches, the beautiful people and the breathtaking Maui Resort is the perfect getaway. We are already been talking about celebrating our wedding anniversary and came across to the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel. Their amenities include two restaurants, spa salon and swimming pool. One of the activities that we would like to do is visiting the historic sites. Since Maui is home to ancient Hawaii capital, the historic town of Lahaina, It would be worth to visit. Museums are surely enjoyable too. White sand beaches of course is number one in our list plus other activities for kids because our 6 year old daughter will be with us. Hiking adventures is for sure one of the best to explore Maui.
For couples who are planning their dream wedding, Maui Weddings is truly a dream of couple in love. Hawaii is definitely the island of enchantment for lovers and getting married in Maui would be an unforgettable wedding experience. The Ka'anapali Beach Hotel has a lovely oceanfront garden.

Peony In My Garden

This peony gave me the grandest show last summer. This was my very first peony in my garden I bought 4 years ago. I always love peony because of its huge flower and a nice smell. I can't imagine my garden in early summer without seeing those gorgeous and voluptuous flowers. I planted few more seedlings given by a friend few years ago and hoping this year will be their time to show off their beauty. Peonies grow 2to 4 feet tall and thrive in sunny flowerbeds and well drained soil. Although they tolerate a wide range of soil types, you'll have the best success with good soil rich in organic matter.

Dark Sky Festival At Harmony, Florida

Not too long ago we were out in our yard to stargaze. It was late night but unfortunately we didn't enjoy it much because of the bright light. Bright and uncontrolled nighttime lighting practices, especially in our large cities have severely reduced the ability to see the sky at night. How beautiful it is if we could enjoy the formation of the stars at night. Light pollution is already troubling to amateur astronomers, who can no longer enjoy using telescopes from their backyards. It is great to have an out- of- this- world event like the Dark Sky Festival at Harmony, Florida. Its purpose is to expose the general public the marvels of astronomy and the importance of protecting dark skies. It is not just for astronomy purposes, but also for the values that darkness provides to area wildlife. This will be held outdoors in low light conditions on the streets, sidewalks and park located at Town Harmony Square. This is a free parking and free admission event. This event is a good opportunity for us to see objects in the sky and have someone there to guide us. There will be some performances but the highlight of this event would be about fighting light pollution. This will surely be a fun, entertaining and educational event. Mark your calendar- This will be held on April 25, 2009 – Saturday from 6:00PM-11:00PM

The Breakers - Newport Rhode Island

This grandest summer cottage was built in 1895 for Cornelius Vanderbilt II, president of the New York central railroad and the head of one of the richest families in America in the Guilded Age. (grandfather of television news anchor, Anderson Cooper)
View from the open air terrace

Last summer we got a chance to spent our weekend in Newport Rhode Island. The weather was beautiful, we started our day at the city walk and walked from the Forty steps down to The Breakers home. We only got a chance to visit one mansion because my littlegirl was already tired of walking. The inside was beautiful with 70 rooms and approx. 65,000 sq. ft. of living space. We are planning to continue exploring other mansions this summer.

Printed T-Shirts- A Popular Way Of Advertising

Mondays and Thursdays are my busy days of the week. On Thursdays I go to my little girl's school to volunteer in her class. I noticed that the first day of spring kids started to wear Printed T Shirts. They are all excited that they can now wear T shirts and shorts. It is much more fun to wear t shirts that has a unique printing and made just for you. There is an on line company that Make T Shirts at a terrific low prices. They also make quality Promotional T Shirts that is good for the companies who wants to advertise their business. Printed T- shirts is an inexpensive and popular way of advertising. They carry a large selections of promotional products and logo apparel. They also have company logo mugs that you can customize base on your specifications. We had a customized mugs as our give aways when my dear daughter was baptized. Our relatives loved it because I used a picture of my little girl and printed a very short message on the mug. Even custom made key tags, buttons, pins or magnets are a good products to use as a give- aways. It is fun and inexpensive.

Hiring A Home Inspector

Buying a home is one of the major decisions we make in our lives. It is expensive enough that needs a lot of time to think about. But if you are in a process of buying a house one of the things you should do is to have the home checked out by a professional. Spending few hundred dollars is not a waste of money, this could save you headache of performing a lot of unexpected repairs. If you have a full picture of the house's physical condition it will help you avoid making financial mistake. If you live in Texas area, Austin home inspection is a company to call. They provides all areas of residential home inspection and have a good standing in the Better Business Bureau, National Association of Certified Home Inspectors and some other groups. I have a friend who bought their first home not too long ago. Since home inspection is an optional procedure, they closed the deal without being inspected. After few months of living in their new home they found out that the roof needs to be repaired. Getting your heart set on a home before it's been inspected is one common mistakes that the first time home buyers do. Home inspections can really help you make sure that your largest purchase is in good working order.

Mango -The Heavenly Fruit

One good thing that I love about spring aside from being so joyous and full of energy are the variety of tropical fruits that are available in the market. Like mangoes, this fruit is not available all year round. I've been buying this since the start of the spring. I am lucky that I can now buy it in our local market. It is not as delicious as the ones grown in the Philippines but the taste is close enough to satisfy my craving.
I usually eat it with bread for breakfast or make a smoothie out of it. My little girl loves it too. I buy a lot each week and wait until it becomes golden yellow in color to enjoy its sweetness. Mangoes help to lower cholesterol, the fiber content is a wonderful aid to digestion regularity and they are rich in Vitamins A and C. they provide more carotinoids than other fruits, and are also low in calories.

Having A Good Night Sleep Is Priceless

It was alarming when I heard the news from a friend that few cars in their neighborhood were opened by force. They were lucky that the bad guys didn't break into the house. She said they don't worry too much since they have a wireless security system installed. Their house is just 15 minutes away from us, that makes me worry. You really don't know how safe the neighborhood nowadays. When the economy is down crime goes up and we really have to do something to have peace of mind. It isn't easy to go to bed and worry that somebody might break into your house during the night. We really want to be safe with the comfort of our home. It is good to have Protect America Gold Package, it's right for the size of our house. The Protect America Home Security Gold Package will cost us only $199 for installation, which includes sensors for 15 entry points (doors and windows). Monitoring costs $35 per month, but our homeowners insurance has a 20% discount for having an alarm system so our final cost is $21 per month. A good night's sleep is priceless. You can call Protect America at 877-470-2751. Just by calling this toll free number you get 2 key chain remotes with your order.
Protection for home and family is not an easy decision but the security and peace of mind will be good for healthy living.

A Poem From My Precious Girl

While browsing my co bloggers blog, I came across to Heathen Mom's blog and learned that April is a national poetry month. It is a good opportunity to post the poem my 5 year old DD made for me when she found out that the Sunflower she gave me on Mother's day didn't survive.
Here is the poem she asked me to write since she had a hard time writing it. (I just wrote what she wanted me to.)

Sunflower
Sunflower so yellow and bright
I love how they smell,
I love how they feel
When you pick the flower
and put it in a pot,
you can pick another one if you want?

You think it's a tree
You think it's a bee
You think it might grow higher than me?

Keeping In Touch

Now a days people are always busy. Even a stay at home can hardly find time to relax. Calling a friend is sometimes hard since they are also engross in their own world. Thanks to a new technology chatting on line is just a click of a mouse away. LDS chat is one of those chat rooms that is available. Usually you will need to sign in at least so you can have a name in the room. After signing you are free to share spiritual thoughts, exciting family events or even interesting experiences. There are lot of advantages about online chatting as long as you do it responsively. Chat rooms provide a platform for us to meet new people or allow us to keep in touch with friends staying far away. You can also exchange your views about certain topics. It is also relaxing and doesn't cost us a lot of money. I do chat with my friends and relatives living abroad so we can still know what is going on in our lives. This saves us a lot of money since calling long distance is expensive. We usually set the time when to go online and chat. This is really a good way to keep in touch and doing it regularly won't break our wallets.

Getting Fit And Biking

Last weekend my husband was busy for his bike clean-up. He doesn't use it during the winter so he really need a good cleaning tools to make the job done right. When cleaning his bike, he noticed that one of the bicycle components need to be replaced. He decided to order parts online since they have great selections of parts and great prices.

Here are the instructions:

1. Write down who tagged you.
2. Answer these:
a. your name / username / pseudo
b. right-handed or left-handed?
c. your favorite letters to write?
d. your least favorite letters to write?

Write “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”
To all my co-bloggers, If you find this tag interesting you're free to grab it and post it in your blog too.

Keeping E-mail Messages Private And Secure

Privacyharbor-logo-wht-f Did you ever wonder what the online email companies do with”your” email when it is stored on their system? One thing is that your email is scanned to determine which advertisements to show to you. They gather statistics and so forth which is shared with the advertisers. Do you think it is acceptable for the advertisers to pry in on your email? It's not. Now there is an online email service that does not share your email with advertisers for any reason. It's called Privacy Harbor. What's worse than sharing your emails with advertisers? How about spammers? Did you know that it is estimated that 97-98% of email traffic on the net these days is spam? Many of us get dozens or even hundreds of spam emails every day. They have anti-spam and anti-virus protection as well. This is necessary these days, with spammers and virus writers running amok. It is so hard to always delete unnecessary e-mails from your in box. Also if you accidentally open the unwanted e-mails, virus may make the computer crash. It happened to me one time and we ended up formatting the hard drive to make our computer work. There is one company that could help to keep every message safe, private and secure.You may want to Get your Free Private Email now at PrivacyHarbor.com.

Happy Easter Everyone!

Healthy Tips for Older Mom To Be

I got pregnant when I was in my late 30's. It was an exciting feeling but at the same time a little worried since getting pregnant at that age is considered "high risk." I took the risk of not having an amniocentesis (also referred to as amniotic fluid test)because of some possible complications can result to miscarriage. (but if I get pregnant again, I will surely get this test) Luckily, I had a happy and healthy pregnancy and gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Now she's almost six.

Here are some tips to decrease the risks:

*Get at least 400mg of folic acid each day to prevent birth defects - even before you get pregnant. Eat portified cereals or take multivitamin with this nutrient.
*See your Dr. right away to begin prenatal care. Regular visits will help detect and treat any problems quickly.
*Stay at a healthy weight. You can do this by eating right- stock up on fruits, veggies, and whole grains. Ask your Dr. how to exercise safely.
*Don't smoke, drink, or use illegal drugs. This can cause long term harm to your child.
*Talk with your doctor about genetic counseling and testing. Screening precedures can help you assess your baby's risk for birth defects and make informed decisions.

Sweet Treats For Kids

Another sweet treats for kids is coming up. My little girl is so excited about the Easter Sunday and the egg hunting. That means more sweets for her. She loves those colorful gummy bears. I usually buy the ones that is individually packed so she can have it one at a time and also its perfect for on-the-go snacking. Once in a while we visit the Candy store so she can have fun choosing different shapes of her favorite gummies. I do have my favorites but the one I like is not always available at the candy store that we go to. When I was working I always have maltesers in my bag I really like the chocolate covered malt balls melt in my mouth. I found a site that have those candies and they even have an array of candy bouquet selections for all occasions. They also have sugar free candy that I never heard before until I browse all the selections they have. Yes, there is a sugar free candy. ( Am I the only one who doesn't know about it?) They also have gums that is good for the teeth. So those who are on diet and graving for candies, they have something for you too, this candies are full of flavor even if its artificially sweetened.

Thank You My Friend...

I worked at the accounting department of one of the biggest five star hotel in the Philippines. It was exciting working there but at the same time tiring since I always worked 12 hours a day due to my work load. I decided to change my work environment and chose to try the jewelry business where I can meet and talk to a lot of people. I was right, there I met Mira. I sold her a diamond necklace. After that meeting we occasionally talked on the phone and finally became friends. I was lucky because after a while, we both migrated to the US and live in the same state. Our communications continued but became less since I got a full time job and she became busy with her son. We really cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. She introduced me to blogging and become so supportive. Everytime I have questions about the new found hobby she is there helping me out and giving me suggestions on a lot of things. I would like to take this opportunity to really thank her. Thank you Mira for being a good friend.

Charter Brings Our Home To Life

-1
We still receive three bills every month for our three services (telephone, cable television and internet connection). It is more paper to file and more checks to issue. Since we are watching our budget these days I am thinking of bundling the services that we have. Charter offers a plan they call “The Charter Bundle.” It bundles two or three services for one value – based price. It is more convenient, less paper, and at an affordable price. We always want good savings so I really consider this one. They have an easy to use website, www.charter.com where customers can use to build the service bundle that meets their needs. Also they have an ongoing contest for the new and existing customers who order service on line, a chance to win a 22” flat screen HDTV every day throughout the month of April. Charter is also offering an opportunity to win a grand prize package that includes a 52” LCD flat screen HDTV, a Home Theater system and one year of free Charter Digital cable service with HD programming. It would be great to enhance the viewing experience by having an HD programming. I'm pretty sure my husband and my little girl will enjoy having a big screen with a very clear picture.

Ice Storm Remnants Make Us Busy...

A good size poplar tree knocked down from the last ice storm. DH wrestled out to cut the whole tree and make it as a firewood for the coming winter. Though energy content of this wood is lower but it is a little bit better than white pine (we don't burn white pine anyway) if use for wood burning. Quite a few trees knocked down in the woods so it would be fun cutting those and bringing it all down closer to our yard.

Stacking firewoods is an art in itself. Isn't it?

"150 Fun Songs For Kids" for $0.99 Album Download!

Picture_1

Wow! Here is an amazing offer we can't resist. On Easter Sunday (April 12, 2009) Amazon MP3 will offer an MP3 "Deal Of The Day" on the digital album 150 Fun Songs For Kids for only $0.99. This digital album sells for $9.49. That is a big savings. This is an amazing collection of children's favorites that is perfect for sing a long fun! A great collection to have in the car. Summer vacation is just around the corner and most of the time we travel by car and a collection of kid's music is great to have for an enjoyable ride. Children love music. My little girl can play for long hours just by herself as long as there is kid's music in the background. Music has the ability to comfort and soothe children. They often sing to themselves as a way to self-soothe. I use the children's song when she gets cranky. It really helps. Toddlers and preschoolers love rhymes and songs. They really enjoy listening to kids music, not only do they enjoy them, but it help them learn about numbers, letters and sounds. Music helps with making connections in the brain. I usually plays the "Clean Up" song after she is done playing. At least I don't have to repeatedly tell her to clean up. Once she hears the song it's time for her to do it. It helps for us moms so we can also have our time to relax.

World Map On The Ceiling!

One Sunday morning at church, my little girl said, “Mom look, there is a world map on the ceiling!” and yes there were big patches of stains maybe from the damaged roof. We had a very snowy winter this year and a week long of power outage that might cause the problem. We also have a stain on our ceiling that we have to deal with. It is like a gigantic bowling pin. We contacted a roofer to check if there is a big damage on our roof. We hope there will be no problem on the roof itself since we just replaced the whole roof three years ago. When we have problem like this, we always seek the advice of the professional, in this case the roofer's expertise to avoid further damage in our property. It is good to have a complete investigation and adequate advice so we can get an appropriate solutions to the problem. Replacing roof can be a major expense and all of us are trying to avoid it. We have number of options when it comes to finding a qualified roofer. One of the best places to start your search is by asking family and friends. Find out if someone you know worked with the roofer before and if they were pleased with the results. Doing an online search for a qualified Salt Lake City roofer is also an alternative.

It's Merienda Time!

Yesterday I had an ample time to relax. I went out to do some yard work but it was windy and cold so I decided to have a haircut instead. After I got home I prepared a snack for my littlegirl since everytime she gets home from school she asks, "Mom, what can I have for a snack?" I think after long hours in school with just 15 minutes of recess kids get tired and hungry when they get home. I made banana fritters for her. I'm glad she liked it.

Kissimmee, Where The Fun Begins!

After the long winter and an ice storm that hit our area we really deserve to have a break. A place where we can experience a full sunshine, a great escape from the chilly New england weather. Since my little girl will be having a spring vacation soon it would be a great idea to check out and plan the perfect getaway that I've been dreaming about for a long time. The wonderful place in Florida that would satisfy my family's need. Kissimmee is a place perfect for the whole family knowing that we can make it everything we want it to be. I would love to try an exhilarating airboat ride across Lake Taho and have a lakeside picnic with my family. Of course visiting the theme parks and attractions would surely excites my little girl. Water parks are so much fun, so this will be the number one in our list of things to do. Kissimmee is the epicenter of fun in Central Florida, with an endless array of vacation attractions ranging from the pulse pounding to the simply extraordinary. Luckily, Kissimmee is giving away three weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two; and two weeklong vacations for four. Drawings will be held on or around 4/1/09, 5/1/09 and 6/1/09. It seems that the best vacations are free in Kissimmee. See you there!

This is the time of the year where home owners start to think about home remodeling. Finding the right professional to handle a home improvement project can be tricky. We always want to make sure that we get a great job in a fair price. Home improvement ca be very stressful so finding the right person to do the job can ease the process. It is important to have a plan and determine your budget to see if the plan is financially feasible. Virginia Beach remodeling contractor have a very experienced carpenters that could make any home improvement job a smooth process. Not all contractors are reputable. Here are some tips-off to potential rip-offs:

*offers you discounts for finding other customers;
*just happens to have materials left over from a previous job;
*only accepts cash payments;
*asks you to get the required building permits;
*does not list a business number in the local telephone directory;
*tells you your job will be a "demonstration;"
*pressures you for an immediate decision;
*offers exceptionally long guarantees;
*asks you to pay for the entire job up-front;
*suggests that you borrow money from a lender the contractor knows.
If you’re not careful, you could lose your home through a home improvement loan scam.

The Super Food

Popeye loves it, so does my little girl.

Spinach may be classified as a “super food” because it's packed to the brain with essential nutrients. Whether you choose a pre- packaged bag of spinach or a fresh bundle of leaves, you will reap the nutritional benefits of this delectable green. When making your purchase, select that is bright green in color with thin stems and leaves that are not wilted or spotted with yellow. Children may prefer baby spinach because the leaves are smaller and more tender than other forms of spinach. Eating spinach feeds a healthy body. It is a great source of calcium, folic acid, iron, magnesium, vitamin C and vitamin A. Spinach also contains lutein, which is important for healthy eyes. If you're a vegetarian, it's important to note that spinach contains oxalic acids, which can block the absorption of calcium and iron. You can remedy this by pairing spinach with other foods high in vitamin C, such as orange juice.

Easter Bunny Is Coming To Town

It's Easter once again, my little girl is so excited because she can again wear her Easter bunny outfit. This year I will try to use vegetables and spices to color our eggs. I've seen a web site on how to dye eggs this way and I am getting so excited to try it. For sure it would be fun and my little girl would surely love it. We usually go to church on Easter morning and participate the egg hunting after. We are lucky that the church that we go to has an activity for kids after mass. At home she again do some egg hunting then eat our lunch at the restaurant. She loves to always wear costumes even when she is at home or with her friends. Playing dress up is always one of those things they do. I like seeing her with her disney character outfit running around the house playing make believe. Halloween Costumes is one of her favorites. She is already asking me when is she going to choose her costume. It is fun to shop around and choose costume each year. I've seen a website that has a lot of selections to choose from. Boys Halloween Costumes and even Adult Disney Costumes are so cute and interesting.
