The Breakers - Newport Rhode Island

This grandest summer cottage was built in 1895 for Cornelius Vanderbilt II, president of the New York central railroad and the head of one of the richest families in America in the Guilded Age. (grandfather of television news anchor, Anderson Cooper)

Last summer we got a chance to spent our weekend in Newport Rhode Island. The weather was beautiful, we started our day at the city walk and walked from the Forty steps down to The Breakers home. We only got a chance to visit one mansion because my littlegirl was already tired of walking. The inside was beautiful with 70 rooms and approx. 65,000 sq. ft. of living space. We are planning to continue exploring other mansions this summer.
